Sad news, unfortunately the tear-down of Calgary’s old Zoobridge is being moved up to this spring, 2017, rather than being delayed until the replacement structure is completed.
This wasn’t completely unexpected, the old bridge is in sadly terrible shape after spending nearly 110 years carrying a far greater number of vehicles (which were also much heavier than the designers envisioned) from Inglewood to three islands and the Calgary Zoo.
Unfortunately that means the live-tweet won’t be quite close finished when the bridge has to come down, given that it will run well into 2018!
The City is going to give us 2 weeks notice before they start work on removing the structure and I’ll try to provide updates on that, as promptly as possible.
